Rational Numbers Blog 4

Chapter Rational Number
Lesson 4
Exercise 9.1

Hello Learner,

At the end of today's blog, you will be able to
(i) Compare the rational numbers.
(ii) solve rational numbers in simplest forms.
(iii) write rational numbers in ascending and descending order.

Lets begin from the previous class where we have solved math problems of writing equivalent rational numbers and representing them on number line.

Important Instructions
1. Do neat and clean work.
2. Make rough column in page.
3. No over writing.

Utilize your next period in completing the pending work Before we start with new math problem click on the line to recapitulate the basis of rational number

Let us all start..................

Q6. Which of the following pair represent the same rational number?

(i) -7/21 and 3/9

Step 1             -7/21   =   -1/3             {reduce to lowest term}

                       3/9   =   1/3                {reduce to lowest term}

Step 2             -1/3  is not equivalent to 1/3              {do comparison}

Step 3              ∴ -7/21 and 3/9 does not the same rational number.

                                                   Quiet easily solved (QED)
(ii) -16/20 and 20/-25

Step 1        -16/20  =  -8/10  =  - 4/5                  {reduce to lowest term}

                   20/-25 = 4/-5    =    -4/5                  {reduce to lowest term}

Step 2          -4/5 is equivalent -4/5                      {do comparison}

Step 3          ∴ -16/20 is equivalent to 20/-25

                                                       Quiet easily solved (QED)

(iii) -2/-3 and 2/3

Step 1         -2/-3  =   2/3          {same signs get cancelled}

                   2/3  =2/3           {cannot get cancelled as they prime numbers}

Step 2               2/3  =  2/3                    { do comparison}

Step 3            ∴ -2/-3 is equivalent to 2/3

                                                        Quiet easily solved (QED)

Now, you should try to solve (iv) to (vii). If you still require help, feel free to write your doubt in comment box.

Let us move to next question which is very easy.

Q7.  Rewrite the following rational numbers in the simplest form:

(i) -8/6

Step 1    -8/6                     {check 8 and 6 both comes in table of 2}

             ∴  = -8 ➗ 2
                     6 ➗ 2

Step 2   = -4/3               {both 4 and 3 does not come in same table}

Step 3    ∴   -8/6   =   -4/3

                                             Quiet easily done  (QED)

(ii) 25/45

Step 1      25/45                   {check 25 and 45 both comes in table of 5}

             ∴   25    ➗  5
                  45   ➗   5

Step 2       5/9                    {both 5 and 9 does not come in same table}

Step 3  25/45  =  5/9

                                      Quiet easily done (QED)

(iii) -44/72

Step 1   -44/72                 {check 44 and 72 both comes in table of 2}

           -44➗2     =   -22
           72 ➗ 2          36

Step 2 - 22/36                {check 22 and 36 both comes in table of 2}

           -22  ➗ 2     = -11   {both 11 and 18 does not come in same table}
            36  ➗ 2          18

boys you need to understand that we have to continuously divide till we get the lowest numbers which further does not come in same table.

therefore,   -44/72 =  -11/18

Now, you should try to solve (iv). If you still require help, feel free to write your doubt in comment box.

This is all for today, I hope you all have understood the math problem well.

Bye for today.
