Fractions and Decimals Day 7 Hello Learner, I hope you all have completed the previous work given in earlier blogs. Today, we will be learning more about decimal numbers  and decimal number system. At the end of today's topic, you will be able to  (i) compare decimal numbers. (ii) explain the comparison of decimal number. (iii) solve problems related to it. So, let begin the topic.......                                       DECIMAL NUMBER SYSTEM In this table, we have written the decimal number in its place-value expansion.  Let us write the expansion form- click on the link  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15zXXjWzh3g Example 1.    The number 2325 is interpreted in expanded form as − 2325  =   2000    +    300    +  20    +   5           = 2 X 1000    +  3  X 100  + 2  X 10   + 5 X 1 Example 2: The number 67487 is interpreted in expanded form as- 67487  =   60000  +  7000  +  400  +  80  + 7             =   6 X 10000  +   7 X 1000  +   4

FRACTIONS AND DECIMALS Good Morning boys Today we will start with  division of Fractions. After this class, you will be able to: i) divide Fraction by a whole number ii) divide Fraction by another Fraction Utilize next period in completing the previous work.... DIVISION OF FRACTION BY A WHOLE NUMBER Write the problem.   The first step to dividing a fraction by a whole number is to simply write out the fraction followed by the division sign and the whole number you need to divide it by. Let's say we're working with the following problem: 2/3 ÷ 4 Change the whole number into a fraction.   To change a whole number into a fraction, all you have to do is place the number over the number 1. The whole number becomes the numerator and 1 becomes the denominator of the fraction. Saying 4/1 is really the same as saying 4, since you're just showing that the number includes "1" 4 times. The problem should read 2/3 ÷ 4/1 Dividing a fraction by another fra

FRACTIONS AND DECIMALS Good Morning boys Let us continue to solve rest of the questions from  Exercise 2.3 Question 5 Saili plants 4 saplings, in a row, in her garden. The distance between two adjacent saplings is ¾ m. Find the distance between the first and the last sapling. Solution:- From the question, it is given that, The distance between two adjacent saplings = ¾ m Number of saplings planted by Saili in a row = 4 Then, number of gap in saplings = ¾ × 4 = 3 ∴The distance between the first and the last saplings = 3 × ¾ = (9/4) m = 2 ¼ m Hence, the distance between the first and the last saplings is 2 ¼ m. Question 6 Lipika reads a book for 1 ¾ hours every day. She reads the entire book in 6 days. How many hours in all were required by her to read the book? Watch the video to learn how to solve:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bqe9DbbSuRk Now try solving the question yourself. Question 7 A car runs 16 km using 1 litre of petrol
